The Textbook of Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry has been carefully developed to meet the academic requirements of students pursuing the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) programme. The book is prepared in accordance with the latest guidelines and curriculum prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) under the New B. Pharm. Syllabus 2026, in alignment with the principles and objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It is primarily intended for B. Pharm. First Semester students and has been structured to provide a clear, systematic, and comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts of Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry.
The content has been presented in a simple, clear, student-friendly, and easy-to-understand language so that students can develop a strong conceptual foundation without unnecessary complexity. Important definitions, principles, reactions, methods, pharmaceutical applications, and analytical concepts have been presented systematically to facilitate effective learning and quick revision. Wherever appropriate, emphasis has been given to the practical significance and pharmaceutical relevance of the concepts discussed.
The book is designed not only for classroom learning but also as a useful reference for self-study, revision, and examination preparation. The arrangement of topics has been made with consideration of the academic needs of undergraduate pharmacy students and the requirements of the prescribed curriculum. The presentation aims to help students understand the subject conceptually rather than relying solely on memorization.
A special feature of this textbook is the inclusion of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) at the end of every unit, along with their correct answers. These questions are intended to reinforce the concepts covered in each unit and provide students with opportunities for regular practice and self-assessment. They can help students identify their strengths and areas requiring additional attention while preparing for university examinations, internal assessments, and relevant competitive examinations.
We have made every effort to ensure that the material is accurate, relevant, well-organized, and consistent with the prescribed syllabus. Nevertheless, suggestions, constructive comments, and corrections from teachers, academicians, and students will always be valuable for improving future editions of the book.
We sincerely hope that this textbook will prove to be a useful, reliable, and student-oriented academic resource for B. Pharm. First Semester students and will assist them in developing a strong foundation in Pharmaceutical Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry. We also hope that the systematic presentation, simplified explanations, and unit-wise MCQs will make learning more effective, engaging, and examination-oriented.
