Clinical physiology forms the scientific foundation of modern medicine by explaining the mechanisms that maintain normal body function and the physiological changes associated with disease. In recent decades, remarkable advances in molecular biology, biomedical engineering, digital health, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, and translational research have transformed the practice of clinical physiology from a primarily descriptive discipline into an essential component of evidence-based patient care. This book, Clinical Physiology in Modern Medicine: Evidence-Based Approaches and Future Directions, has been developed to provide a comprehensive and contemporary understanding of physiological principles while emphasizing their direct clinical applications across diverse healthcare settings. The chapters systematically explore the physiology of major organ systems, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, endocrine, renal, gastrointestinal, exercise, and integrative physiology, followed by emerging concepts in translational physiology, biomedical technologies, precision medicine, regenerative medicine, and future healthcare innovations. Throughout the text, physiological mechanisms are linked with clinical disorders, diagnostic techniques, therapeutic interventions, and modern technological advances to facilitate meaningful integration of basic science with clinical practice. Carefully designed figures, tables, clinical case studies, key concepts, and review questions further enhance learning and encourage critical thinking. This book is intended for undergraduate and postgraduate students in medicine, physiology, nursing, pharmacy, allied health sciences, and biomedical sciences, as well as clinicians, educators, and researchers seeking an updated reference in clinical physiology. It is our sincere hope that this volume will strengthen physiological understanding, promote evidence
based clinical reasoning, inspire translational research, and encourage lifelong learning among healthcare professionals. By integrating classical physiological concepts with emerging biomedical innovations, this book aims to contribute to the advancement of modern healthcare and ultimately improve patient outcomes worldwide.
