Pharmaceutical Engineering is an essential component of pharmaceutical education, providing students with the scientific and engineering principles required to understand the processing, manufacturing, and handling of pharmaceutical products. It serves as an important link between fundamental pharmaceutical sciences and their practical application in modern pharmaceutical manufacturing. A Textbook of Pharmaceutical Engineering has been prepared specifically for B. Pharm. Third Semester students under the BP307T course, in accordance with the latest Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) syllabus 2026 and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The book aims to present pharmaceutical engineering concepts in a clear, systematic, and student-friendly manner while maintaining appropriate scientific depth. It covers the major principles and unit operations involved in pharmaceutical processing, including size reduction, size separation, mixing, material handling, filtration, crystallization, centrifugation, heat transfer, evaporation, drying, distillation, and fluid flow. Special emphasis is placed on the construction, working principles, advantages, limitations, and pharmaceutical applications of important equipment and processes. The content is organized logically to facilitate effective learning through clear explanations, relevant examples, classifications, and important points for examination and revision. The authors have endeavoured to simplify complex engineering concepts without compromising their scientific significance and to establish a meaningful connection between theoretical knowledge and industrial practice. It is sincerely hoped that this textbook will serve as a valuable academic resource for B. Pharm. students, teachers, and pharmacy professionals, helping learners develop a strong conceptual foundation in pharmaceutical engineering and understand its applications in the pharmaceutical industry.
